Popped in here today for fish and chips for myself and the missus. I got a smoked cod and chips. She got fresh cod and chips. I have to say, it was the worst smoked cod I've ever had. The fish was tiny. Hardly any smoked flavour. The batter was all burned around the edges. The chips were dry as old boots. I binned mine, couldn't eat it. Herself ate it, only because she was starving. The fish isn't fresh, it's in a fridge behind the counter in containers, already cooked. Fish should be battered and cooked to order, especially for the prices they are charging. And not only Macari's, this goes for most fish and chips in Ireland, it's all garbage. All pre cooked rubbish. I think for proper fish and chips, I'll just have to take a trip over to England. They know how to do fish and chips over there. Fish battered to order.

The fresh fish was almost burnt and the chips as well. Better go eat somewhere else.
Greedy chipper as other chippers give you one Garlic/Tartar sauce for FREE but they don’t. All Irish chippers will give you free sauce because it’s in the recipe. We spent 22€ for one portion of chips and two fresh cod and another 2.40€ for a sauce.
